Advanced Training

The advanced training package is for dogs who have completed prior trianing with me or with any other trainer. Prerequisites for advanced training are commands "Sit", "Stay" for 60 seconds and with minimal distractions, "Down", and "Heel". Advanced training will allow you to take your dog anywhere and know that he will be relaxed and well behaved. The advanced package consists of six hours of training and will prepare you and your dog to pass the Canine Good Citizen Exam given by the American Kennel Club. For more information on CGC dogs please visit the AKC website at http://www.akc.org/events/cgc/index.cfm Lessons include the following 10 items needed to pass the CGC and certification for you and your dog. All of these lessons will be completed with no food rewards used:

• Accepting a friendly stranger
• Sitting politely for petting
• Appearance and grooming: sitting politely while a stranger looks at teeth and brushes coat
• Walking nicely on a leash
• Heel through a crowd
• Stay while you walk away from your dog and continuing to stay until you return
• Come when called
• Remaining calm and not approaching another dog that appraoches the owner
• Remaining calm while the owner leaves the room
